The following are frequently asked questions about the EGG lense.

If you have others please contact us by clicking the contact us box.

What cameras are compatible with the EGG lens ?
You will want a camera with at least 3.5 mega pixels, a manually controllable aperture (f-stops) a macro function (macro minimum focus distance must be at least 13 cm) , and filter threads.

I have a video camera that has photo capability. Can I use that with the EGG lens ?
Unfortunately, the photo resolution of video cameras is not up to the level (3.5MP) required for use with our lens.

Are there any keys or fees that I have to pay after I purchase EGG Photo ?
No! Once you purchase the system, there are no other per-image or licensing costs.

Is there a Apple Macintosh version of EGG Photo ?
Currently there is only a PC version. The Macintosh version will be available in the future

My EGG photos are coming out fuzzy. Why ?
There could be several reasons. Because of the unique design of the EGG lens, your camera will require using an aperture (f-stop) of at least 5.6 or higher numerically. You must also use the macro function. Put the camera on a tripod and use the self timer to trip the shutter.

How do I get my EGG album uploaded to my web server ?
After saving the four files to your hard drive, you will need to use a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software program to upload them. The four files must be stored in the SAME directory (folder) for the album to function correctly. Please contact your webmaster or ISP for more specific instructions.

Can I install my EGG Photo SE software on multiple computers ?
No. You may install it on one machine per license. Extra licences are available from EGG.

Does any software need to be installed on the web server ?
There is no server side software required.

Will viewers have to download files to their hard drive to view the EGG Photo's on my web site ?
No files are downloaded to the viewer's hard drive. The images download into their browser's cache.

Can I use other visualization software, such as QuickTime, Live Picture, RealPlayer, or Windows Media Player, to view EGG photo's ?
No, but the advantage to our system is that it is completely developed in the Java language, allowing it to be viewed with any browser on multiple platforms (Windows, Macintosh, Linux).

When I take an EGG 360º photo inside a room, it looks like an atom bomb went off outside. The windows and doors are nothing but white light. How can I fix this ?
Your camera is being overloaded by the sun light. You need to even out the exposure in the room. Try closing the blinds or drapes, shutting the doors, and turning the lights in the room on. Sun light is very intense. You want to try to even out the light sources in your 360º photo.

When I am outside and the sun is shining brightly, the area of my photo where the sun is located is overexposed and there is light streaking all around that part of the picture. What can I do ?
Unlike standard photography where you can put the sun at your back, 360º photography has different requirements. You must try to hide the sun behind an object (such as a tree or a pole) or try shooting when the sun is higher in the sky. Shooting outside in the Winter is particularly difficult, because the sun is low in the sky.

I am shooting inside a room with several spotlights and I'm getting light streaking in my photos. How can I fix this ?
Light beaming directly into the lens causes the streaking you are seeing. Try adjusting the lights so they do not point directly into the lens. Any intense, direct source of light that enters the lens will cause reflection and streaking.

The horizon in my EGG photo's moves up and down as I pan around the picture. Why does this happen ?
The lens was not level when you took the picture. Mount your camera on a tripod and make sure the lens is level.

My picture is not as sharp as I would like it. What can I do to fix this ?
Make sure your camera is set to the highest resolution and all other settings are correct. Mount your camera on a tripod and use the self timer to take the photo.

What is the image format of an EGG album ?
The image format is ".egg." It is a proprietary format that allows multiple images and image parameters to be stored in a single file.

In what forms does EGG Photo 360º SE export content ?
The application exports either an .html (web browser) form or an .exe (stand alone) form.

How can I send an EGG album to someone ?
With one click, the software will load all the needed files as attachments into your email application.

Can I e-mail an ".exe" file to someone ?
While technically possible, we strongly recommend you do not send .exe's via email. Viruses are commonly spread using the .exe format.

What software will viewers need to view my EGG albums ?
To view an EGG album that has been either e-mailed to you or is on a web site, viewers will need to use a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape. If viewers have received an .exe version of the album, no other software is required.

When I try to open up an EGG Album that has been emailed to me, a web page with a gray square opens but there is no picture. Where is the image ?
You have to download all four attachments from the email to your hard drive into the SAME folder (directory).

Do the people viewing my content on a web page have to download a plug-in ?
No. EGG Photo 360º SE utilizes a java player.

What size are the EGG albums ?
That is contingent upon two settings: First, the image size settings used in your camera. Second, the level of compression you use in the EGG Photo software. The album size is user variable.

When using the "E-mail EGG Album" or "Save EGG Album as a web page" commands, what four types of files does EGG Photo 360º SE export ?
The four files are the following: ".jar" which is a java archive; ".html" which is a hyper-text markup language file; ".ear" which is a java applet; and, ".egg" which is an image and parameters file.
